How It Works

Some tattoos mark a moment. These bring it back to life.Whether you're starting fresh or already have ink, Skin Motion makes your tattoo something you can hear.It all starts with your audio—a sound that means something. From there, we turn it into something unforgettable.

Below, choose the path that fits your tattoo style, and follow the steps. It’s easy and it’s personal.

Upload your audio

Choose the sound that matters most to you. It could be a whispered “I love you,” a voice note, a song—anything under 30 seconds. Create an account and upload your audio to your Skin Motion account.

Activate and upload a photo of your tattoo

After checkout, upload a clear photo of your existing tattoo and select your preferred Scan Bar color—this helps the app recognize your tattoo during playback.
The tattoo must be flat, clearly visible, and small enough to fit inside the camera view. (More details in the FAQ below.)

Scan and relive

Once activated, open the Skin Motion app and scan your tattoo. Your audio will play instantly—whenever you want to hear it.

Upload your audio

Start with your sound. Something real. A memory worth keeping. Create an account and upload your audio to your Skin Motion account.

Step 2

Generate your soundwave design

We turn your audio into a unique soundwave image.
You’ll receive a PDF stencil to take to a Skin Motion-certified tattoo artist near you. This is the design that gets tattooed.

Step 3

Activate and upload a photo of
your tattoo

Once you have your tattoo inked, upload a clear photo of your new tattoo and select your preferred Scan Bar color—this helps the app recognize your tattoo during playback.

Step 4

Scan & relive

Once activated, open the Skin Motion app and scan your tattoo. Your audio will play instantly—whenever you want to hear it.
